FLORAL BLOUSE, SUMMER CARDIGAN AND PETITE JEANS REVIEW

If you read my post last week you know that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is underway, the Early Access portion at least. I took full advantage of the sale to start shopping Fall pieces I know I’m going to need. I shared my tips for Fall wardrobe updates and linked my favorite Fall pieces from the Nordstrom sale – many of which are already sold out so if you’re interested in grabbing sale items, I would jump on it right away.

I also picked up a few things to wear now and this floral blouse was one of them. I like the almost vintage feel to this tie-neck floral top. The tiny floral print combined with the pink/red combo reminds me of the china my grandmother used to serve tea with. I know that’s not much of a selling point but I love it and there’s no question that it brings jeans to life. It’s hard to give up layering even when the temps are a sweltering 90+ degrees because any outfit looks cuter layered. Adding a longer layer on top of a simple jeans and top combo makes the outfit more interesting. Of course you don’t want anything too heavy in the summer so I usually stick with light colors and very light weight material, like this long cardigan is from WHBM which goes with everything. My jeans are a new purchase. I also own the distressed version of these and wore them a lot in the spring so when I saw them in a plain dark rinse I couldn’t resist. This style is super-stretchy and very flattering to ladies with curves. It comes in three different washes – the one I’m wearing (no distressing), a patchwork one, and one that’s heavily distressed. The dark rinse seem to run smaller than the distressed variety though so I would size up if you’re buying these. I’m wearing the 00 SHORT here and the fit is more snug than I was expecting. If you order a size up the fit would be more like the AG “The Beau” high-rise slouchy skinny jeans which I also love for casual wear and are currently on sale. For the AEO pair, even in the short length you might have to roll up the cuffs a little, which adds to the casual vibe so I like it.

My white pumps which I bought at the beginning of the year are still going strong but I just saw another pair I really like and am dying to buy. These cream Topshop pumps are SO stylish and would be perfect with everything from midi skirts and dresses, to jeans and tailored pants (also available in the prettiest pink leather!)
