FAVORITE SUMMER DRESSES AND VACATION STYLE

Summer Dress and Vacation Style

If you’ve visited my blog before, it will come as no surprise to you that I’m in a floral print. While I never need an excuse to wear florals, I was just on vacation and nothing says summer vacation more than a romantic floral dress. With some major twirl factor and movement to it of course. I wore this beautiful dress while in Cape Cod trip a few days ago and got so many compliments. I also packed and wore this Loft maxi in the most beautiful blues and this Ann Taylor Sundrenched Floral Flare dress. I’ve included details on each dress below as well as hand-picked and linked some of my favorite summer dresses.

Cape Cod’s become one of my favorite easy vacation spots. I particularly like the town of Chatham. Two amazing resorts we love to stay and lounge at there are the Chatham Bars Inn and Wequasset Resort and Golf Club. If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw some of the stunning views from our time there. Not only are the grounds and views beautiful, the customer service at both resorts is exceptional. We felt so well taken care of.
My daughter was ecstatic about the abundance of beaches, pools at the Cape, plus the sugary treats. And I was equally ecstatic not to have to deal with daily house chores and definitely over-indulged in sugar myself. But that’s what vacations are for.
Clothing-wise I broke away from my usual palette-based strategy for packing and took a variety of floral prints. I’m sad this BR dress is sold out online but you might have luck finding it in the sale section of a BR store. Luckily we’re in a season full of amazing romantic dress options and the two that I mentioned above are available online.
This one from Loft has the prettiest blue shades – light blue and turquoise set against a classic navy background. Perfect for the seaside. It’s currently 40% off with no discount needed, making it only $60. If you haven’t yet signed up for Loft emails you might also get the option to get $25 off your order with your email. I’m not sure if this offer is contingent upon order size but it’s a great discount, especially if you can use it on top of their 40% discount. I also love the Ann Taylor Amalfi halter dress. This one is more leafy than floral but same idea. The colors are so rich and it looks gorgeous on any complexion. The halter neck is really nice as well and makes it easy to wear to a nice restaurant or a drinks by a pool-side bar in the evening. Both these dresses are available in both Petite and regular sizing and for reference I took Petite in both. You can shop these below and I also included the very popular Banana Republic tiered dress I wore in this post because it’s now on sale for only $60 (discount applied automatically at checkout).
Aside from my floral maxi dresses, I packed some vacation basics. I took a simple sleeveless olive green midi that was perfect for the very hot weather, a pair of swingy shorts and white sleeveless lace top, plus this H&M light summer sweater. The first day I thought maybe the sweater would be unnecessary but once evening rolled around, particularly on July 4 for fireworks on the beach, I was so glad to have it.

My taupe/blush cat-eye sunnies have been hands-down my favorite sunglasses this season. You’re probably sick of seeing them but this color goes with everything and accents summer whites and brights equally well. Mine were a lucky find at Forever 21 in the Spring so these are long gone from the store or online but I love this similar pair.
