This was one of those days when the forecast said “sporadic rain” – my least favorite kind of weather because it doesn’t make sense to go full out with your rain gear (and you guys know how much I love trenches and umbrellas). So you leave your brelly and raincoat at home and pray you don’t get caught in a shower. Well my prayers didn’t work because I did get rained on resulting in the wrinkled clothing and even more-frizz-than-usual in my hair. The weather doesn’t care about blog pictures or my appearance apparently.
I was pretty excited to find this pullover ruffled striped sweater a few weeks ago at Banana Republic. Stripes and ruffles are a difficult combo to resist! And on top of that it was on sale for way under the original price. I wasn’t sure about the placement of the ruffles as it hung on the hanger but I tried it on and thought it looked cute. In New England you need sweaters all year round, particularly if you’re near the water where there always seems to be a breeze, so you can’t go wrong with buying sweaters. Cotton sweaters are great for summer days when you might need the extra weight but not necessarily the warmth of wool. The other great thing about cotton sweaters is that they’re not itchy. I’m super sensitive to itchiness and have trouble with most wools and cashmeres so with cotton I bypass that issue. This pullover is also going to be great with my white jeans or orange maxi.
These joggers have been in my wardrobe since last year (from Loft). I’ve linked a few similar pairs if you want to shop this style. They’re basically elegant sweatpants so you can style them to be dressy or casual and are a chic alternative to jeans. Nice joggers will get you through any weekend activity in style and it’s nice that you can also wear them to work (just add a crisp white button-down and blazer). They look so cute with pumps of any height or I also like them with loafers. If you find the right pair, with not too much snugness around the hips and thighs they’re also really flattering, like boyfriend jeans.
I went with my light blue pumps to create a tonal look using different shades of red and blue. These are one of the few low heel pairs of pumps I have and I love them for errand days like this. I wear these a lot so if you’ve been to my blog before chances are you’ve seen them in action in other outfits.
I’d love to hear what you think of joggers. Like or dislike?
