amazon fashion, tiered ruffle skirt, designer dupe

SHOPPING AMAZON FASHION | FALL 2021

Fall has just begun and it’s one of my favorite seasons on so many levels – style, food and annual traditions just to name a few. It’s the season of frills and fancy. It’s when textures and colors really come alive for me, and when I spend way too much on clothes. But you know…YOLO. Which brings me to my current topic, shopping Amazon Fashion.

What do you think of Amazon Fashion? Have you shopped there before? My newest wardrobe staple came out of shopping Amazon Fashion. For the first time! This gorgeous tiered ruffle midi skirt is fully in my regular rotation now and it’s under $20. What! I subsequently stumbled upon this very similar Simone Rochas skirt but since that is over $1000, I think I’ll stick with this one. This $20 designer dupe is pretty good, don’t you think?

Amazon Fashion Quality & Returns

Before ordering this skirt I was worried about the quality since this was my first time shopping from Amazon Fashion. The $20 price point had me questioning this purchase big time, but since Amazon has an easy return policy I decided to take the plunge. Speaking of their return policy, it’s even better now that I can drop off returns to my local Amazon bookstore. And when you return to a drop-off location you sometimes get a 20% off coupon for any one item in the store. So whether your order works or not, it’s win-win. Amazon is doing a lot of things right.

Now, back to the quality of the skirt. Honestly I’ve been pleasantly surprised. It’s well stitched, not scratchy as some inexpensive fabrics are, and has a knee length lining. All in all, very nicely done…I’m not sure how they do it for $20 actually. The only part I don’t love is the waist band, which doesn’t match the skirt color and is basically just the elastic. The online pictures show certain colorways as having a matching colored waist band but mine didn’t come that way. However this is an easy fix with a 1″ belt and won’t stop me from buying this in another color (thinking the grey blue or the dark brown).

Outfit Details

With this much volume and detail on the bottom it makes sense to keep the silhouette on top fairly streamlined, especially if you’re shaped like me – petite and curvy. This classic cardigan (one of my favorites that you’ll see recommended in some of my older posts too) helps to balance out the skirt, resulting in an outfit that’s both work appropriate but also weekend-ready. For some reason this cardigan is currently only available in 3 colors but hopefully more colors will return soon.

I like this skirt with heels (mine are old Sam Edelman) but will also be wearing this skirt with sneakers at some point. Eyeing this pair for a chunky contrast but plain white sneakers always work too. Love this Veja pair I linked here – the wine stripe is great for Fall outfits.

My pink sunnies are my third pair of pink sunglasses – sold out in pink it seems, but still available in milky purple and only $15. I just can’t break the obsession.

Amazon Fashion Finds

While I was on Amazon I also found a few other fun fashion finds under $100 (but most are under $50) that I’ll pass on for your online browsing:

Another, more substantial and slightly more A-line, tiered blush skirt. So you can choose whether you want the $20 version (wearing here), this $60 version or the $1K Simone Rochas version:)

Boho Floral Print Dress under $40

Another tiered skirt, like this chiffon leopard print skirt from Chartou

Perfect sweater dress for Zoom calls or in-person meetings from The Drop Store. The burgundy color is really nice and it comes in an impressive array of sizes, starting at XXS – a petite girl’s fantasy.

Another long sleeve floral print dress, perfect for Fall and comes in a million colors, for around $40. And another here in a gorgeous wine color.
