This is part 2 of our New Hampshire getaway post (read part 1 is here if you’re interested). We headed there a few days ago to take our daughter to Story Land. As it turns out, she wasn’t too impressed and only spent a short time there. Selfishly, I wasn’t too sad that she didn’t like it because entertainment parks are not usually my idea of a good time. It opened up more time for us to enjoy the beautiful views of the White Mountains and explore Bretton Woods. I’m also sharing our experience at two of the local hotels we visited if you’re thinking of heading to the area.

This polka dot dress was one of the few things I packed. I took it because I noticed when I bought it that it was completely smushed by several other things in the bag and still emerged unwrinkled. I hate ironing with a passion so anything wrinkle-free is a massive plus. Besides how travel-friendly it is, the polka dots totally sold me. Oh and the under $40 price.

This style of dress is fabulous for hiding a few extra pounds, which I am definitely carrying around since winter. The elastic waist is really nice for figure definition and a feminine look and it’s tiered, which gives it good movement. It’s also lined (down to mid-thigh on me). Last but not least, the material is really airy. I was as cool as you can be in the 90+ degree weather and I’m not saying that sarcastically. Note that the material is synthetic, which a lot of people shy away from so I thought I’d mention it.

I’ve had my straw boater hat for a couple of years now – a good boater hat is an essential for spring and summer in my book and does so much to finish a look. You can never go wrong with straw accessories anyway. Straw is trend-proof and natural materials are the way of the future. As you see this year, straw bags are all the rage. If you’re in the market for a straw bag I rounded up some of my favorites in this post. My straw tote here is great for daily use. I use it so much on weekends, for farmer’s market trips and since it’s pretty big, it’s a good option for the beach or pool as well. It’s currently on sale for 25% with code YAYCLOTHES.

We started our weekend at the White Mountain hotel, which we picked primarily because of it’s proximity to Storyland and because it’s family-friendly. It’s very inexpensive and since it’s basically built onto the side of a mountain you also get some great views. There’s a medium sized pool, which was unfortunately a little buggy the first day, but they cleaned it up on day 2. The hotel is also close to Diana’s Bath, which is an easy hike to a small waterfall so if you’re with kids, there’s a pay-off at the end of the walk. There are several decent restaurant options on the main strip in town if you don’t want to eat at the hotel for every meal. It’s also within close driving distance to other New Hampshire attractions, like Bretton Woods and the Mount Washington hotel, which I loved. I mentioned this in my last post too but if you’re looking for a luxury experience, definitely head to the Mount Washington resort – you can read about it more in this post.
