SKIRT: ANN TAYLOR (use code MYSTERY50 for sale price)| MULES: similar HERE | CARDIGAN: similar HERE | SHIRT: LOFT similar HERE
This work outfit is part of a mini capsule. I use wardrobe capsules in a modified way and it works really well for me – particularly for my work wardrobe, where I just don’t like to invest too much money. A wardrobe capsule is essentially a collection of pieces that mix and match really well together. This type of thoughtful wardrobe building creates more efficiency in your closet and makes putting together outfits much easier and faster. If you like a pared down closet and not having to think too much about creating ensembles, then a capsule wardrobe could be just right for you. To show you how it can work, I’ve included a second look using this skirt near the bottom of the post. These pieces also work with other pieces in the blue family, including jeans, so you can easily get a third look from these.

This skirt is a good one to have in the rotation for work. There’s only so many times one can wear a pencil skirt after all and a pleated A-line skirt in summery colors is a great alternative. I styled it really simply here with my trusty navy cardigan (tucked in for a more streamlined look than wearing it untucked) and a silky ivory button-down. It runs a little large, so definitely size down if you get it. It’s on sale today for 50% with code MYSTERY50 but the site is temporarily down so you may need to check back later. Once the site is back up I’ll have a few more picks from the sale linked for you.

I love cardigans – probably a little too much. They’re a great substitute for blazers and since I don’t generally love blazers, I go the cardi route instead. Particularly if it’s in a cute print, I will definitely buy it. Like this super cute lemon cardigan, currently 25% off with code GOFISH.
LOOK #2: Here are the pieces you can choose from – select one top and the peach pumps and you’re good to go. My modified capsule approach begins with working within certain color palettes. This capsule uses blues, pink and yellow, which can make for quite a strong wardrobe for Spring/Summer. For this look you would accent the skirt with peach tones instead of navy and mustard as I did in Look #1.  Also, pair any of the tops plus the pumps with jeans and you have a third outfit!
