Major boho vibes and a small tale of make-up calamity at the end if you’re interested!
This dress makes me want to jump on a plane to Cartagena but alas I’ll just have to dream for now as I have no plans for travel to Europe this year. I love floral, I love red, and I love colorful maxi dresses, especially for summer. So this one is a winner on all fronts. I’m such a fan of a bold sweeping dress – utterly feminine and powerful. I’ve linked a few of my favorite red floral midi and maxi dresses if you share my love of this style.

I found a really close dupe that’s only around $50 but the style is a little more daring than mine – a fairly deep side slit that makes it perfect for summer nights out. I also found a short dress with red tassels plus lace-up detail in the same print as my dress – it’s super cute if you like short dresses.

I’m in love with fringe earrings right now. I’ve linked a few really pretty ones that I’ve found. I can’t buy them all but they’re too cute not to share:

This bamboo Japanese picnic bag is probably the most popular one of the year, at this price point anyway, which is under $150. Amazing right? The Ark keeps selling out fast so if you like it, don’t wait to order. I’ll share some quick details on this bag because the natural question is how practical is it. I’ll say this – it’s clearly not the most practical bag you’ll ever buy but it is definitely beautiful. It can also be quite functional if you don’t need to carry around a lot of things with you. I usually throw in keys, sunglasses and maybe a chapstick or lipgloss and they don’t really show through in a big way. Another advantage of this bag is that its uniqueness makes it fairly season and trend proof.
The bag comes in 2 sizes – I ordered the Small because I’m petite. I found it somehow magically looks larger than it actually is. It came in a shoe-box sized package and I thought it was going to be tiny but then I unpacked it and was surprised at how roomy it is. Since the creation of this bag, Cult Gaia now offers the bag in several other beautiful acrylic colors. Black is of course a classic and if you get it from Moda Operandi you can avoid shipping costs (returns are free as well though you won’t want to return it!)
And finally, that make-up calamity I said I would share with you. I realized for the first time in my life how important it is to have a back-up of your favorite lip color. For context, I usually don’t wear very much make-up. My makeup bag contains very little beyond sunscreen, powder, lipstick/gloss and eye-liner. Anyway, so I put the dress on and then went rooting in my make-up bag for my Annabella lipstick – one of the 3 lip colors I own. Long story short, it was nowhere to be found and I had to wear Audrey instead. I love Audrey, it’s a beautiful currant color, but she clearly wasn’t meant for this dress! I know there are worse things that can happen in life but I thought it was funny that a little thing like losing your lipstick can be so annoying. Anyway, in case you were wondering about the lipstick mis-match, now you know why!
