MILITARY-INSPIRED DRESS

 Fall Fashion Military Dress

DRESS: J.CREW | SHOES: LUCKY BRAND | BAG: LOUIS VUITTON | CAP: NORDSTROM or the luxury version HERE | SUNGLASSES: STELLA MCCARTNEY
The weekend’s almost here! Just a quick post today to share this super cool military-inspired dress that can transition easily between weekend and a casual day at work. This fatigue shirt dress is the definition of urban cool and currently on sale for 25% off with CODE SHOPNOW. It’s also a blank canvas to be styled however you want. For my expedition to a local museum with my husband and daughter, I styled the dress very simply. I just added a neutral baseball cap to make the look super casual and um, also to cover my always-messy hair. The dress is incredibly comfortable (so soft) and the ever so slightly below-the-knee length and tiered skirt are so figure flattering.

Fall is a great time to bring out those warmer tones in your wardrobe, like the color of these amazing caramel coated confections! This bakery was small but what the selection was definitely decadent. Whenever we’re in Salem I always seem to stop here to pick up either a macaron or some other sweet treat. As the weather gets even cooler it’ll be easy to add another warm brown or ivory layer to this dress for warmth and throw on those Fall booties for a quick cute outfit. Or you could add color with a plaid scarf and this bright red coat. So many fun styling options.

I love a belted anything and especially love the design of this dress – a belted utility style dress with feminine details. The military color of the dress coupled with the tier and slight a-line of the skirt is such a great combination. The waist belt makes the outfit even more feminine while still being a little edgy. If you like the dress but olive isn’t your color, it also comes in a stunning red. You would think I would have grabbed the red one given my love of color but in this case I fell hard for this neutral khaki.
It was the perfect dress for a trip to the museum with my little family and for walking around the town of Salem. Did I mention the dress has pockets? Always love that but especially when I’m out with my daughter because there are inevitably tissues, fallen hair elastics or random rocks that she insists we take home to “live with us”. That’s where the pockets really help:)

I mentioned in my last post that I love hats and Fall is a great time to put all those fun hats into rotation. This season it’s all about luxe fabrics like suede, velvet and soft felted wools. I plan to wear a lot of rich Fall colors (burgundy and forest green anyone?) so a few neutral accessories are a must. This hat goes with everything and I love having some lighter colors to contrast against some of the darker shades that Fall brings. It also looks so cute with a simple white tee, jeans and sneakers for errand-running.

One note about fit and sizing. This dress doesn’t come in Petite sizes. I actually wanted the longer length so I went with the Regular size 00. As you can see, it’s petite friendly all around. The only area that could be a slight issue depending on your chest size and torso length are the arm holes. I’m wearing size 00 so there’s always the option to size down to 000, particularly if you’re smaller chested. 000 is currently sold out but keep checking back as they do re-stock if an item is very popular. I’ll keep my eye on it as well and post on Instagram if it comes back in that size.

I’ve also added some pieces you could use to style this dress later in the Fall or even Winter in the second scroll bar below. I love all these cozy Fall styles!

Hope you have a wonderful fun-filled weekend and let me know what you think of this military-inspired yet feminine look. xo
