SUMMER DAYS: ROMANTIC FLORAL WRAP SKIRT

Summer’s drawing to a close and while the heat’s been a little oppressive, I’m enjoying wearing all the summer styles while I can. Light fabrics, floral prints, and romantic airy styles are some of my favorites for summer and this skirt is all that rolled into one. The bold red and pink tones and the leafy print are so pretty and I love the movement as you walk! For something this inexpensive (only $20) I got a disproportional number of compliments on this skirt – always a good thing.

We spent a good amount of time in pretty rural settings this week and one of our trips was to a small local farm with horses and barn animals, as well as a large playground and picnic tables – that’s the grand trifecta for parents of a pre-schooler. I chose this skirt because I’ve been wearing it non-stop since I bought it – it’s ridiculously comfortable and flattering.

I like that it’s a wrap skirt so you can effectively make your own waist and it’s just a simple tie around your waist style. The fabric doesn’t wrinkle easily and is machine-washable. So it’s perfect for all my mommy duties. And I really love the vibrant, happy print, which you can a close-up of in the shot below.

The skirt has an asymmetrical hem which is a nice design element for this price. The wrap style and a-line cut make it really easy to walk in too. It works as a maxi skirt on me but if you’re taller, know that’s designed as a midi and the hem line would hit somewhere around mid-calf.
I found the skirt to be a lot more well-made than many fast fashion pieces. The simple cut and elegant drape make it look much more expensive than it is. I thought it was worth pointing out since I know I sometimes hesitate to buy a things online from this brand – I’m never sure what the quality will be. This one looks and feels nicely made and not at all cheap.
While I wouldn’t call this skirt the most versatile thing in my closet, I’ve already worn it multiple times since buying it last week! It was a great cover-up at the beach since it goes on like a sarong – just wrap and tie. I sat on damp sand in it and miraculously nothing stuck to me – I just got up, brushed off and was good to go. I also wore it to run errands and get a pedi. So easy to pull the skirt up and get your leg exfoliation and massage! For errands, I paired it with a simple white button-down, which I’m sure you already have in your closet but if not I love this classic linen one right now (great fit and sale price!)
I kept the rest of the outfit pretty neutral since the skirt takes center-stage. A soft black tee is perfect for weekends and is an easy pairing with this print. And for a trip to a farm you can never go wrong with a straw tote. I love the straw tote I’m carrying here and was hoping to link it for you guys, especially since it was such a good deal (only $30) but unfortunately couldn’t find it online. The hunt for similar ones however led me to two super cute totes that I now must have! I’m a total sucker for anything remotely resembling a basket you can carry and this one with its double top black handles and stripe detailing is nothing short of dreamy, especially under $100 (it’s on sale!). This is actually a great time to nab a straw tote or any classic summer item since retailers are aggressively marking down summer items as the season ends. I also love this flirty pom-pom one which I’ve had my eye on since Spring but just never got around to grabbing. It’s an outfit maker and I love the more cylindrical shape.
