Somehow every year I forget how cold February is, ugh. Thank goodness for velvet and faux fur. These two fabrics make cute winter layering easy. My velvet midi-skirt works for the office or the weekend. For work I’ve been wearing it with a turtleneck, blazer and booties. So easy to put together and super warm. For this weekend I added my faux fur vest plus cute lace socks, which made wearing sandals possible. This a simple way to add texture to your outfit and stay warm in freezing temps.

I’ve had the faux fur vest for years and luckily it’s still in style, and still fits. So, good news all around. Anyway, beyond the fact that I like the look of faux fur it’s also really warm, which makes it a trend worth wearing in my book. I like this sleeveless style because of the layering possibilities and the neutral color makes it super versatile. But I also love this faux long-sleeved red jacket.

As I was saying in my last post, I can’t seem to get enough clutches lately, especially if they’re sparkly. This one by Glint seems to no longer be available online but I found this vintage style pleated velvet clutch from the same brand, which comes in red as well as black, and I love both.  This blue velvet one from the last post is also still a favorite, though I would caution against wearing it with lace or other delicate fabrics as the jewel pieces can snag. Another favorite, coming soon to the blog, is this slightly pricier but amazing little starry number, which is perfect for day or night and totally worth the extra cash.

I’m generally too lazy for a ton of jewelry but recently bought this medallion necklace and have been getting a ton of wear from it since it’s so neutral and goes with everything. It’s the perfect solution for anyone who can’t be bothered to pick the right jewelry for each outfit. It’s super sparkly and the length is adjustable so it works well in the winter when you might be figuring out pretty up the neckline of your turtlenecks. Also it’s under $25.

I don’t like to spend the entire winter in boots but I also don’t enjoy getting frost bite so sometimes I wear socks with sandals. These cute lace knee-high socks are a fun addition to the sock drawer for cooler weather and they help add texture to simple outfits. I also have and love these basic ones in black at under $15 to add a layer of warmth to my pumps and sandals in winter.
