CASUAL STRIPED DRESS

 Summer Style Tank Dress
DRESS | SNEAKERS | STRAW TOTE (similar, mine isn’t available online) | HAT (similar to mine and comes in different sizes versus one size fits all)
When the weather turns blazing hot, a simple tank dress does the trick. This one is one of the most comfortable ones I’ve worn all summer. The material is really soft, it has a relaxed cut, and bonus – it comes with a built-in shelf bra. This is a huge benefit for me since the bra is actually supportive versus just a flimsy piece of padding. This little tank dress is perfect for my weekends when I’m doing kid stuff (playgrounds and other outdoor activities) as well as meeting up with friends. And also running a million errands. It’s like being in hyper-drive so I need an outfit that works for all these different occasions and locations, and looks cute as well.

DRESS:  UNIQLO | SNEAKERS: LOFT | TOTE: H&M similar HERE | HAT: SIMILAR or THIS one with tassels | BELT: WHBM similar HERE | EARRINGS: REBECCA MINKOFF (OLD), SIMILAR HERE

I wore the dress belted but it really doesn’t need one. It’s cut fairly slim but I didn’t find it to be fitted at the waist. If you have a very narrow waist or want more waist definition a belt is nice, but for a super casual comfy look I’d skip it. I’m planning to wear this dress for walks on the beach too – it doubles perfectly as a cover-up. It’s machine washable and therefore great for mommies or clumsy people. I’m both:)
Now that the Pandora’s box of sneakers has been opened, here I am in another pair. Since I was never a sneaker wearer, I’m having some serious fun exploring this whole new category of footwear. The ones I’m wearing were a sale score from Loft and are currently under $20 – crazy cheap. They’re available in black as well, 50% off the price at check out, no coded needed. They have a little platform, which of course I love. Anything to get some more inches (although in this case it’s only 1 more inch). I like the platform game so much that my sneaker platforms are going to keep getting higher – so get ready for a few more platform sneaks on the blog!
On that note, if you caught my earlier post on the sneakers look, you might remember that I also ordered a pair of super-cute glittery sneakers. I got them in the mail a couple of days ago and they are just as awesome as I thought they would be, but contrary the store note (which says they run small) I found them to be true to size. I returned the size 6 and now eagerly waiting to try the 5.5. Also full disclosure, they shed a little glitter. This is something of a non-issue in my house because my daughter spreads glitter everywhere anyway but I thought I’d share this tidbit since not everyone can live in glitter.
Straw accessories are key for me in the summer and I’m always on the hunt for new straw totes. This season there have been so many cute ones ranging from the pom-pom variety to various striped and colorful versions. I was looking for a straw tote with a little more of a basket shape than my other straw tote (which you can see here) but still neutral. I found this one and love the tight weave that almost feels like a soft rug. I also like the black faux leather wrapped straps. It makes for a nice graphic effect if you want to enhance a neutral outfit like my black, white, ecru combination here.
I’ve linked my outfit details above and below. As always, thanks for stopping in and happy shopping!
