RUFFLED COLD SHOULDER AND JEANS

Cold Shoulder Collared Shirt

I love the look of the off-the-shoulder trend but for busy weekdays I prefer a cold-shoulder top. A top that’s 100% shoulder-baring is usually not my first pick, mostly because you need to wear a strapless bra or go without one entirely. The former isn’t particularly comfortable and the latter is out of the question for me. So, a cold-shoulder top a good compromise!

When buying a cold-shoulder top to style with jeans I find a slightly cropped length that hits close to the waistline of my jeans to be the most figure-flattering. I also find that one that’s not too voluminous is best for petite figures.

In true Zara speed this particular top is now sold out online but this one is very similar and offers all the same comfort and style benefits. I also linked several other statement tops all the way at the bottom that are either completely off-the-shoulder or cold-shoulder.

The jeans are old news but in case you missed it in previous posts you can see it here in a classic preppy look. I highly recommend these jeans for curvy figures looking for a high-waisted pair of jeans. The jeans accommodate larger thighs and a bit of booty with minimal gaping at the waist. It’s not distressed but has a decent amount of whiskering and the dark rinse makes it work for many different occasions. It’s also super soft, rivaling the softness of designer denim brands like Paige, J. Brand and (my favorite!) AG.

I love hats so this is one of a few I have in rotation right now. I came across it unexpectedly at Express and liked that it wasn’t pure white and had a different band. It has a narrow braided band tied on one side versus the wide gross-grain band you see on most fedoras. It also has a subtle ombre coloring (going from natural to slightly yellow) and is indented at the top, which gives it a bit of character.

Easy dressing is key for me and I love statement tops that can quickly dress up basic bottoms and have you out the door in a flash without sacrificing style. After becoming a mom, the ability to get dressed fast has become so important. My munchkin gives me about 60 seconds before a gallon of milk ends up on the floor, she runs into a wall, or some other mayhem ensues. There’s zero time to dilly dally or to stare into your closet and try this and that. So in my life as a mom statement tops play a huge role. I’d say they’re the best wardrobe weapon for every busy woman, especially if you like and wear jeans often.

I’ve linked some of my favorite cold-shoulder tops here. Grab one and look cute without having to put any thought into it!

Thanks so much for reading and see you back in a few days. I’m on vacation in LA for a few days so my next post may be delayed to Tuesday…but I’ll be posting pics of our trip on Instagram so check it out if you’re in the mood to see a little bit of LA.
