SUMMER GOLD & FLORAL MAXI SKIRT

We’ve been doing a lot of New England trips this summer. Since moving from LA to Boston I’ve been wanting to explore all the beautiful states surrounding us and this is the first year where we finally got it together enough to plan so many trips! You can see a few of them and what I wore there in the last few posts. This week I have some more amazing finds all under $50 (except the bag) to share before we head out to Cape Cod and Nantucket. Almost everything in last week’s denim skirt and body-suit post was also under $50 so I guess I’m getting really good at trolling the sales.

I am utterly in love with this rich gold color and want to wear it from head to toe. I tend to wear it as a neutral. This season there are so many beautiful yellow and gold pieces in my favorite textures, like satin and velvet. More on both of those in the coming weeks since these two fabrics are all the rage right now. I still can’t believe these gorgeous knotted slides are only $20 – really an incredible find. I also have two other favorites in this color. First, these sophisticated knotted mules that are on my wishlist but currently out of my budget. The second pair are these beautiful and very affordable platform sandals that I’ll have to find every excuse to wear. My lifestyle doesn’t call for 5 inch heels too often anymore but I believe in making every day style luxe so I’ll find a place:)

This pleated silky blouse is total perfection and is super versatile. I love the light, silky material and the details of this blouse, like the knife pleated collar – see the pleats? Love! The obvious choice is to wear it to the office but since I’m not currently doing a corporate job I went the dressy casual route with it. Dressy casual is totally my niche – I feel like that way you’re ready for anything. As far as the fit of this blouse, I’m wearing an XSP, which was slightly large on me – cut a little wide on the torso but perfect in the shoulders. I wore it knotted here to cut down the fabric a bit and you can also get the same effect simply by tucking it into your skirt or jeans/pants.

This floral skirt fulfills all my frills and floral dreams. I love the asymmetrical hem, the drape and easy elasticized waist. I’m wearing size XS Short to pair with flats but I might order the darker floral print in the regular length so I can wear it with heels. While I styled my skirt with yellow/gold you can just as easily play off the pink or the green in it. I also grabbed a pink top to wear with it and of course, you can never go wrong with a simple white cotton button-down to top off any skirt.

Tiered skirts are one of my favorite skirt styles. They’re so feminine and can offer a ton of movement which suits my style. I also love this blue-based floral ruffle skirt for under $25.

When shopping this gold top, I also came across and bought this bateau neck mustard top for Fall. It’s currently only about $20 with the discount at check out. I know Fall isn’t for a few weeks but it does sneak up on you and I couldn’t pass up the sale price for a classic piece I know I’ll be wearing a lot. It looks so good with jeans or layered over a printed button-down.
