THE ART OF WINTER STYLE
Getting through Boston Fall/Winter while maintaining your style is an art form! It’s so tempting to reach for the leggings and sweats and call it a day. I try to keep some semblance of style in the cold season but I wouldn’t be able to do it without my key winter pieces. There are few essential fabrics and styles that keep me sartorially satisfied and actually warm at the same time. So today I’m sharing the key pieces that I can’t live without. Luckily, the Thanksgiving sales have already started and a lot of what I linked is on significant sale.
1. A THIN SILK OR COTTON TANK – YOUR FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE
I always start with a thin tank top of some kind. I love this Raisa tank top because it’s ultra thin. Somehow it always makes me feel warmer. This is on sale for 15% off if you order $200 or more with code MORE18. For inexpensive options, and especially if I’m wearing a V neck sweater, I like this fitted v tank which is currently on sale for only $10 and comes in a billion colors. I stick to the neutrals since I wear them only for layering.
2. WOOL OR CASHMERE TURTLENECK – GETTING WARMED UP
Hands-down one of the best cashmere sweaters out there under $150, and right now it’s under $100 with code together! It doesn’t come in petite so I get it in XXS. I have the black, grey, camel and of course, pink! This one, which I also love, does come in Petite (and regular) sizing and is still just under $100, which is awesome for cashmere. For another cashmere option under $100, check out Uniqlo!
3. VEST OR CARDIGAN – YOU MEAN BUSINESS
This is where I start to have fun with the colors. How fun is this orange puffy vest and it comes with a hood. Also love this black one from Patagonia if you’re going for a monochromatic look. It’s on the pricey side and a little chunky but it’s worth it for the warmth!
4. WARM SOCKS – NOT MESSING AROUND
This is so key! I used to wear printed cotton socks before and ever since moving to Boston I realized you really HAVE to have warm socks. This adorable fair isle snowflake pair are absolutely perfect for keeping your feet warm. I was out in 30 degree weather for about an hour playing with my daughter in only my rainboots (and socks obvi) and my toes were totally warm. I always have cold feet so I was pretty excited about the socks and have bought about 50 pairs for everyone I know since discovering these.
Also, in case you missed it last week, I also linked all my favorite camel coats here last week.
OTHER OUTFIT DETAILS:
These cozy high-top Converse have been amazingly comfortable and warm. Mine are from last year but this year I love this pair from Converse: a faux fur lined pair in black and also these super cool leather burgundy low-tops with fuzzy lining.
HOLIDAY GIFT IDEA WITH SPECIAL COUPON INCLUDED:
My watch arrived courtesy of the kind folks over at Daniel Wellington last week. I’ve talked about their watches before. Totally love them for the sleek minimalist design with the element of luxe. And at such an affordable price point. I chose the all-black Classic Petite Cornwall with NATO band and black dial/rose gold accents. I love this for everyday. These make amazing holiday gifts and with the holiday promotions they’re an even better deal. So make someone happy (could be yourself!) by grabbing one of these. Right now you can get up to 50% off the site depending on what you purchase. You also get free gift and worldwide shipping with that. And the best part is that you can get an additional 15% off by using my code PETITESTYLE. This gift set is my favorite and is 20% with the holiday promotion (running through 11/26) and you can use my code on top of this promotion!
