THE BEST VESTS AND PUFFERS FOR PETITES

Best Puffers and Vests Fall 2021

This is the perfect time of year for puffy vests and I’m officially rounding them up for us petites! Vests are a fantastic wardrobe layering piece and in my opinion, vastly underrated. I really like that you can keep add warmth, mix in some interest to your look, be cozy AND look streamlined at the same time with a puffy vest. Plus they definitely add a cool factor when work with skirts and dresses.

Favorite Petite-Friendly Puffy Vests

So in this post I’m including some of my long time favorite vests, and because winter isn’t too far away, I also threw in some of the best petite puffer coats out there. Retail sale cycles are starting earlier than ever this year so there are some awesome deals to score if you shop now, not to mention a better chance of smaller sizes still being available. As a petite, sizes running out is often a problem we face.

My ochre puffy vest has been in my wardrobe for several years. They haven’t changed the fit and though the XXS is still a bit oversized on me at the waist, I like that it’s a really comfortable fit and can be worn over thick sweaters. You can also cinch it at the waist as seen in this post for a more stylized and feminine fit. Since the ultra light down material compresses down so easily, there are a lot of styling options with this particular vest. And other than the waist not being tailored, this vest is petite-friendly and has all the right dimensions including length and arm holes.

This ochre/mustard color isn’t available this year but I love the red (it’s not a bright red and really pretty for Fall). This slightly more oversized vest is another packable favorite and comes in two classic colors – black and a really cool taupey-green. So easy to layer each other of these over a midi-skirt and monochrome sweater like I did in this outfit.

Another favorite is this animal print vest with snap pockets and stand up collar around $65. This one is great for livening up a simple jeans and black sweater outfit.

Gingham Style

You can wear checks any time of year, making a gingham skirt a three-season wardrobe staple in colder climes since you can layer under and over it. Other than in the depths of winter, I wear this all the time. I love the texture contrast with cooler weather knits, and also like that the checks add dimension without any additional effort or thinking. Another way to style it is to wear this skirt with a simple black turtleneck, black puffy vest combo and black ankle boots. The all black look is so convenient sometimes when you’re feeling lazy. The Commes des Garcon version of this tiered gingham skirt is about $800. You can get it for less, under $200 from Whistles. Or…even better, this version for only $40. You’re welcome!

Latest Faux Fur Bags for Texture

Texture is one of my favorite styling tools and adding texture is easy if you have the right accessories. You can do just a little bit of texture or a lot. I frequently lean towards a LOT of texture as you might know. You can see this bag in action from a couple of years ago here.

For anyone who wants to dabble with some affordable and small texture pops, check out these accessories. My yellow faux fur clutch is several years old so I can’t link it but here are a few of the latest faux fur bags: this one under $20 from Amazon is seriously the cutest. Check out this post to read more about Amazon Fashion. Or this beautiful peach fuzzy bag under $200 from one of my favorite affordable handbag designers. There’s also a plain black version but the peach is so much fun and different.

And because it’s never too early to shop for puffer coats for winter…it’s not even that far away unfortunately, here are two current favorites: this black cinched waist super warm puffer which will go with any outfit, plus a long camel quilted classic.

That’s it for me today! I posted some super cute high-waisted petite jeans in my Instagram Stories that I’m really excited about and will share in a few days so if you like jeans, stay tuned for that. Hope you have a fantastic weekend and have a chance to throw on a vest this weekend! – T
