Today I wanted to talk about the pleated metallic midi skirt, a key style trend for this Fall and a hero piece in my wardrobe for almost 3 years now. A metallic midi skirt can work in any situation on any day. It’s as neutral as you can get but at the same time it has attitude. Styled the right way it can be business appropriate and serious;  fashion forward and avant-garde; flirtatious; or even demure. If you don’t already own a metallic skirt, grab one for an immediate wardrobe update – you’ll get tons of wear out of it, I promise.

A great metallic pleated skirt can go from a parent-teacher meeting, a business meeting, to dinner at a nice restaurant. I own two – a bronze one that I wore in the summer, styled completely differently from this outfit, and this dark grey one. I also love this shimmering rose gold metallic crepe version! Or if you’re looking to splurge, this gleaming gold one is sooo pretty! If you’re going to have only one skirt in your closet (and let’s hope that’s not the case) a pleated metallic one is an excellent choice.
I’ve rounded up several other good pewter/silver metallic choices in the shoppable scroll bar at the bottom of the post so check them out. I included a few at different price points with slight variations in the grey/silver tones.
As we leave summer and move into Fall I’m still planning to wear my straw and wicker bags.  They’re a fresh take and go really nicely with Fall color palettes. This woven circle bag is such a cute carryall and is under $100. It also comes in a mustard yellow color that I am seriously ogling, as well as a two-tone black/natural weave that effortlessly adds dimension to any outfit.
I paired this skirt with a chunky red sweater here for breakfast out on a chillier summer morning. This cashmere blend with turtleneck I linked is great for cooler weather and the drop shoulders and wide sleeves are so cute. Also found another red sweater option which is a very close dupe of mine and under $20 but is a polyester blend, so it won’t be as warm for winter months. We are usually up at the crack of dawn these days with my 4 year old and my go to in the early hours of the day is usually a snuggly sweater.
What do you guys think of this fiery, warm red? We’ll see a ton of it this Fall since red is going to be the “it” color of the season. I’m thinking we are all going to be a little tired of red by the time Christmas rolls around! I do think this is a great color on most complexions though! I linked several options below – just scroll right to see more of my picks.
Thanks for stopping in! xo
