THE ONLY BAG YOU NEED THIS WINTER

I was looking for an everyday bag that could be timeless, work equally well with uber feminine and mens-wear inspired styles, and could withstand being thrown around a little.

In line with the “less waste” philosophy, I was on a mission to find a bag that could multi-task across occasions (work, errands, as well as evening). It also had to work across seasons. And finally, my budget for this exercise was to stay under $500.

After wading through many brands and retailers I think I found the perfect one and, surprisingly, it also happened to be way below my price target:

THE PERFECT EVERYDAY BAG

This off-white top-handle bag checks all the boxes for versatility, which is key for an everyday bag you’ll actually use every day.

It’s also super affordable, even at its regular list price, without any promotion codes. But do use the promotion codes (see below) because once you apply those, you can snag this bag for right around $100. That is a pretty amazing price for this, real leather, bag.

This little bag is the perfect multi-tasker on so many levels, including flexibility in how you carry it. You can carry it by the top-handle, which is perfect for dressier occasions. But it also comes with an adjustable cross-body strap which gives it the practicality you need for everyday use and when you want to be hands-free, like while running errands.

The structured design adds elegance to any look. The construction is stiff enough that the bag doesn’t need stuffing to maintain its shape. It has a slight Jacquemus vibe without the exaggerated length, and of course without the Jacquemus price.

So let’s talk size. It’s definitely a small bag. This is a big part of what makes a bag you could getaway with using across occasions. Evening bags are generally on the smaller side and many of the larger bags just don’t work for evening occasions.

I also find the smaller size to be great for every day use, particularly for petites. You can fit all the basics in it. Phone, credit card (there’s a small sleeve for cards), lipstick, hand sanitizer and a small set of keys fit easily. But if you like to carry full size wallet, then a larger option would be better.

Use code FAMILY to get 40% off the price to get it for around $100.

SUSTAINABLE FASHION AND THE SIRKL BEANIE

For anyone wondering, the dress and shoes (Miu Miu) are old. The beanie is from a new eco-conscious sustainable fashion brand, Sirkl Clothing. Stop by my Instagram or Facebook page to read details on this beanie and the brand behind it. Their products are completely biodegradable, contain no synthetics, and no artificial dyes (which can be so toxic). They even have completely dye-free options.

What’s your point of view on sustainable fashion? Have you found any sustainable brands that you love?

What I’m finding is that there’s a ton of activity in this space, with more and more brands using the buzzwords “eco-conscious” and “sustainable” lately. But it seems we still have a long way to go before more large brands become truly 100% sustainable across the entire stream: for example where the fabrics are sourced from, the fabric they use, and the production process itself.
