I’m back from vacation! For those of you who saw that I missed my weekend post, I’m sorry! I went to Cape Cod for a few days and it was amazing. I’ll have outfit pics and vacay details up soon but there needless to say there was lots of eating, beaching and floral-wearing involved.
Speaking of florals, surprise surprise, here’s a floral look. Floral prints have been one of my favorite trends this year. I’ve also been really drawn to pale pinks and luckily, florals and blush make a happy pairing. It’s funny I have so many pale pinks in my closet when all I ever wore before were bright colors. With Rose Quartz being the color of the year, there are so many more shades of pink available this year that I suppose it was inevitable that I’d get hooked. If you’re on the fence about pink it might be a matter of finding the right shade for you. A good general guideline is that cooler pinks work better on light complexions whereas warmer pinks like peach and taupe-y pink work better on darker skin tones.

For the most part I use soft pinks to highlight and accent standout prints like the one on this skirt. The rich floral print caught my eye with its gorgeous greens combined with soft pink, red and ivory tones. I also liked the easy a-line cut, which I find so flattering and can never resist. It also works perfectly with my new summer bag and makes for an elegant summer work outfit.

SKIRT: ZARA not available online, more floral midis I like HERE and HERE | BLOUSE: TARGET, also love this one from ANN TAYLOR | SHOES: VINCE CAMUTO | BAG: MARC JACOBS | SUNGLASSES: FOREVER 21 similar HERE

The midi trend is another one that I love. If it’s midi length there’s a good chance it’ll end up in my shopping basket. I scoured the Zara site for this dress but had no luck finding it online. I bought it in the store just a few days ago so you might find it at your local Zara if you really like this particular one. I’ve also linked two other floral midi skirts that I love so that you can shop this trend online.

The blouse I’m wearing has been a favorite of mine this season. I own it in two colors – this blush one I’m wearing as well as the pink/green print and unfortunately both seem to be sold out online.  I’ve linked several other blouses in neutral shades of pink that are perfect to pair with any summer print you have:

The pink/green print must have been really popular at Target because they now have several other items in the same print including this little bow dress and this midi dress with a ruffled asymmetrical hem for under $20 now on sale. I also found a similar style in this pretty pale pink which I can see getting a lot of wear over the summer for everything from brunch to shopping or casual weekend wear. It’s very flattering on, fully lined, and a great buy at under $35. Unfortunately the XS was too big for me in both these dresses and they don’t carry it in a petite size but if you’re not under 5’2″ you should definitely check out this dress.

My new Marc Jacobs bag is one of my all-time favorite handbags. I love the sporty chic styling and the contemporary yet classic feel. It’s really like having two bags in one because the strap is detachable and it’s the strap that gives it the sporty tone. When you take the strap off you have an elegant top-handle bag that goes with everything.

I styled it here as a top-handle but you can see it styled sporty-chic in this post. I love everything about it, from the soft pebbled leather, to the subtle color that reads between white and ivory depending on what you wear it with, to the size and of course, the carrying options. I’ve been carrying around my European wallet, keys, lip gloss, hand sanitizer, and massive sunglasses plus case in it. Oh and a pack of Annie’s gummy bunnies, which I use to calm down my 3 year old’s increasingly frequent temper tantrums:) The things that go into my bag now that I’m a mom!

I’m not a big fan of suits and feminine outfits for work in the summer are my favorite. This combination (floral skirt plus neutral blouse) always works. If your work wardrobe is in a rut, this formula is a good one to have in your back pocket. If you’re interested in checking out more budget-friendly work looks you might like this classic summer eyelet dress.

Thanks for reading and happy shopping!
