My love affair with pleated midi skirts continues! If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw that I said I’m trying to build a rainbow of pleated midis and I was only half-kidding. Pleated midi skirts are effortlessly stylish, which make them very hard to resist. For someone who likes easy dressing options pleated midis are a must-have. I actually own the navy version of this skirt and loved it so much that I bought this chartreuse color as well. Both outfits are styled using a similar color palette – yellows, navy and white. You can see the other skirt and the look here if you missed it. If you like the idea of a capsule or small wardrobe, the pieces from these 2 posts combined, plus a pair of  jeans, a white tee and hat, can easily give you 6 or 7 outfits. You can mix and match the pieces to create both work and casual looks. I’ve listed a few combinations using the pieces from these 2 posts if you have or like the colors here and want to expand your outfit choices using just a few pieces.

The skirt is really well-made, comfortable and has a lot of movement, as you can probably see from the snap above. It’s fully lined yet light-weight and I would wear this in Summer, Fall and Spring. For a late Summer/pre-Fall work look, I wore it with a sleeveless tie-neck shell and layered a cardigan over it once out of the sun and into the AC. In the Fall I would wear a thin knit and layer over with a mid-weight jacket. I have my olive drapey vegan jacket in mind, worn over a light colored knit for a neutral look.

I like to keep a few printed sleeveless shells in my wardrobe using colors that are complimentary to my core wardrobe colors. This year my core colors have been navy, blush and red, and in the Fall, I’m adding camel to the mix. The light blue, gray, red floral print of this top makes it easy to throw in the rotation with any of my core colors, as well as contrast colors, like this standout yellow. This shell also works well with any wardrobe that has a lot of grey, black or white in it. Paired with a long white blazer and white pants you could create a completely different look.

I clearly have a thing with tie-necks (didn’t even realize it until just now writing this post). You can see another tie-neck look with my red BR dress that I wear equally for work or weekends. I like the option to tie as a bow or leave loose and the tied-up look feels right for work.

My navy cardigan from Ann Taylor has been on repeat for work this year. Mine is in the 3/4 arm length which they currently are running low in stock on. I’ve linked the longer sleeve version and they also offer it in a cropped length, which I don’t own but is hugely popular especially with if you like to wear high-waisted skirts and pants. You can also see the cardigan styled with a wrap dress for work here.

If you’ve had a chance to check out my earlier post using this same skirt in navy, you’ll see that you can easily mix and match these pieces in several ways for some additional looks:

Outfit 1/Work: Floral Top + Navy Skirt + Blue Pumps

Outfit 2/Work: Striped Tank + Yellow Skirt + Blue Pumps + Lime Scarf

Outfit 3/Business Casual: Jeans + Floral Top + Blazer

Outfit 4/Casual: Jeans + White Tee + Cardigan

I also like the casual styling of either skirt with white sneakers – so low-key and chic. I’ve ordered some new white sneaks and waiting for them to come in so I tone down some of my more feminine styles for Fall.

Thanks for reading, hope you liked this post and happy shopping!
